KLE/NFELDER
8.19I P MIe.flgl blWoru.
4. DISCUSSION OF RESULTS
' The following sections discuss the groundwater characteristics and quality.
4.1 GROUNDWATER FLOW DIRECTION AND GRADIENT
The depths to groundwater and groundwater elevations for each water level monitoring location
are detailed on the attached Table 1. Historical groundwater depth and elevation data from
2001 — 2010 has been archived and can be viewed on previous reports. The groundwater
' gradients were calculated using 3-point mathematical calculations.
The groundwater in the Plant Area during the first quarter 2014 monitoring event was calculated
to flow to the south, with a gradient of 0.0067 ft/ft. Historically, the groundwater flow direction
has ranged from northeast to southeast. A groundwater contour map for the plant area is
1 included on Plate 3.
In the first quarter 2014, the groundwater gradient in the N/SALAIA was towards the west, with
a gradient of 0.004 ft/ft. A groundwater contour map for N/ALAIA is presented on Plate 4.
Groundwater flow direction in the MARIA was estimated to be towards the west based on
relative elevations of groundwater in W-1, W-4, and W-5. A groundwater gradient was not
calculated due to the linear orientation of the wells.
4.2 CHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF GROUNDWATER SAMPLES
4.2.1 McKinley Avenue Rapid Infiltration Area
Groundwater quality for the three monitoring wells for the first quarter 2014 had the following
ranges of concentrations:
• pH (7.12 to 7.45 units)
• Total Dissolved Solids (810 to 1200 mg/1)
r • Ammonia as Nitrogen (Non-detectable <0.10 mg/I to 0.23 mg/1)
101486.7/SAC14R0504 Page 8 of 13 April 28, 2014
Copyright 2014 Kleinfelder
