(AGE). Significant
concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) and
benzene, and modest concentrations of toluene, ethyl:benzene, and total xylenes were detected
in groundwater collected from monitoring well MW75R for the first time in the two years
I MW-5R has been sampled. 1,2-Dichloroethane (1,27DCA) was detected at historical
concentrations of 2.7 micrograms per liter (gg/L) in groundwater collected from MW-5R
during this fourth-quarter sampling event. AGE request and the EHD approved the resampling
J
of MW-5R on December 5,2008. .
I AGE has recommended this site be considered for closure and a closure summary.report be
prepared. Because of recent findings for groundwater samples collected from MW-5R, the
! EHD does not believe this site is ready for closure. Instead,.the EHD directs that MW-5R be
monitored and sampled at least two additional quarters. The remaining monitoring wells onsite
may be sampled annually since either low• concentrations or non-detect results have been
reported.for groundwater,samples collected!from the rem'ining onsite wells. A closure report
will be appropriate once it has been demonstrated that the concentrations of contaminants of
j concern detected in groundwater samples from MW-5R were due to either cross contamination
and that there is no transient petroleum hydrocarbon pplume moving toward the nearby
municipal well, or was due to some other relatively:innocuous cause..
By letter dated May 7, 2007, the EHD approved removing total extractable petroleum
hydrocarbons (TEPH) quantified.as diesel (TEPH-d) andquantified as motor oil (TEPH-mo),
di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary amyl methyl ether
(TAME), tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA), 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB), ethanol, and methanol from
I .
