\W.."
'W KL I N IF LEL 'DFR
File No. 20-3908-01.vI07
April 8, 1999
Mr. Martin Thorpe
Jim Thorpe Oil
351 Beckman Road
Lodi, CA 952-40
Subject: FIELD DENSITY TESTS
TANK EXCAVATION BACKFILL
ALPINE & WEST LANE
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
This report presents the results of compaction tests taken at the subject project. As requested,
Mr. Dennis Quashnick of our firm performed tests on March 31, 1999. Three tests were taken by
the nuclear probe test method at locations selected by Jamie Thorpe on tank excavation backfill.
A sample of the material tested was brought to our laboratory for determination of the maximum
density-optimum moisture content. The test results conform to the compaction requirements of
the project specifications and are presented on Table 1.
The tests were performed at and below finished subgrade and are only representative of the
locations tested. The depth of backfill is unknown to us.
Since Kleinfelder. Inc. did not perform a geotechnical study for this site, we cannot accept any
responsibility for the adequacy of any geotechnical recommendations. The scope of our work,
was strictly limited to density testing in the areas noted.
We have employed accepted engineering and testing procedures. However, we do not undertake
the guarantee of construction, nor do we relieve the contractor of his primary responsibility to
produce a cornpletcd p" Jct con.o:T inIg to the project plans and specifications_
t
If you have any questions about this report, please call our office.
Respectfully submitted,
i
KLkINFELDER.
