Now, ..i
30 July 1999
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0300
Page 3 of 5
• Drilling and Sampling; and
• Report preparation.
3.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable site assessment permits will be obtained from the PHS-EHD. As required by PHS-EHD
permitting, a health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and
Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational
Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,
1985).Prior to digging activities,each proposed digging location will be clearly marked and an utility
clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert.
3.1. DRILLING AND SAMPLING
Initially, AGE proposes to advance six soil probe borings at the site to evaluate the lateral and
vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon impaction. Additional probe borings may be required to
completely delineate any impacted soil and/or ground water encountered. Proposed soil boring
locations are illustrated in Figure 2.
Based on soil contamination encountered beneath the former USTs at approximately 15 feet bsg and
from beneath the former dispenser island area, AGE proposes advancement of probe borings in the
following locations:
• Approximately 20 to 30 feet southeast of the former UST No. 1;
• Approximately 5 to 15 feet southeast of the former UST No. 1;
• Approximately 5 feet northwest of the former UST No. 2;
• Approximately 5 feet south of the former UST No. 2;
• Approximately 20 to 30 feet northwest of the former UST No. 2; and
• Approximately 10 to 20 feet west of the former UST No. 3.
Initially,each probe boring will be advanced to 30 feet bsg. However, total depths of probe borings
will be based on field observations and field screening using an organic vapor monitor(OVM). Soil
Advanced GcoEnvironmental,Inc.
