(AGE) by electronic mail
on April 23, 2007.. 1,2-Dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) was detected at 2.4 micrograms per
liter (pg/L) and 3.8 µg/L from groundwater samples collected from monitoring wells
MW-4 and MW-5R, respectively. This is the first time 1,2-DCA has been detected in
any groundwater samples collected from these two wells and EHD is concerned since
MW-5R is the deepest well onsite with a screened interval between sixty and seventy feet
below surface grade, and MW-5R is located approximately 250 feet north of municipal
water well station .number 77 Therefore, EHD directs you to resample these two
monitoring wells immediately and analyze the groundwater samples for 1,2-DCA,
reporting the results at a detection limit of 0.5 µg/L. Due to the presence of 1,2-DCA at
concentrations above the California Environmental Protection Agency water duality
goals method detection. limit (MDL) of 0.5 ,pg/L, EHD can not consider this site for
closure until this issue is resolved,.
Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) is requiring
evaluation of Environmental Screening Lever (ESts), California Human Health
Screening Levels(CHHSLs),.(San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board)
and the potential for vapor intrusion into buildings for closure consideration of sites
having residual contamination left in place. Therefore, you need to evaluate the potential
for vapor intrusion inside the buildings located onsite. Please submit a work plan to EHD
by July 25, 2007, to assess the potential for vapor intrusion into the existing onsite
buildings, or provide; a rational, with technical support, for discounting vapor intrusion
into the buildings as a potential hazard for this site.
Total extractable petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TEPH-d), .TEPH as motor oil
(TEPH-mo), di-isopropyl ether (DIPS), ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary amyl
methyl ether(TAME), tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA); 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB), ethanol,
