' 04 August 2000
• AGE-NC Project No 97-0300
' Page 9of10
' Permeability And SVE Effectiveness) with respect to gasoline-impacted sites Based on
information gained through laboratory analysis, the average permeability at the site was
between 2 x 10' (MW-4 at 25 feet bsg) and S x 10' (MW-4 at 45 feet bsg) The laboratory
' analysis indicated permeability conditions at the site should be adequate for SVE technology
' The findings of the June 2000 ground water monitoring event results are as follows
• Ground water flow direction at the site appeared to be oriented generally southeast at a
I gradient of 0 01 on 09 June 2000, ground water flow direction appeared to be oriented
towards the north at a gradient of 0 02 on 16 June 2000 (Figure 9) Due to the low gradient
at the site, slight variations In ground water measurements or changes of recharge/discharge
of the local ground water could greatly modify the modeled ground water flow direction
• The ground water elevation at the site was within the screened intervals of wells MW-1,
' MW-2 and MW-3 and yield samples fully representative of shallow ground water conditions
• Ground water elevations decreased at the site an average 102 feet from the 09 June 2000
well development activities to the 16 June 2000 ground water monitoring events (Table 1)
Very low concentrations of dissolved MTBE and TPH-d appear to be present in the area of
monitoring well MW-1
I
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon the results of the Second Quarter 2000 investigation, AGE recommends
• Continued quarterly ground water monitoring, the next quarterly ground water monitoring
event is tentatively scheduled for September 2000
I • Continued utilization of wells MW-1,MW-2 and MW-3 for characterization of ground water
conditions
I • Elimination of quarterly ground water sampling of methanol, ethanol, 1,2-DCA and EDB
• Preparation of a corrective action plan report to evaluate several remedial alternatives for the
I site
• A search for all potential ground water receptors within a 2,000-foot radius of the site
1
•
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
I
