REG 603 UPDATE-7 3/24/92
i
compound. This breaker box has since been locked. The unit was
restarted on January 3, 1992 and operated until March 10 , 1992,
with occasional auto shut downs due to high temperature ( 15500F)
in pre-oxidation chamber. On March 10 , 1992 , ad3ustments were
made to increase the pounds destroyed, and lower the natural gas
and ambient air usage. During these adjustments the pilot flame
went out, indicating the need for maintenance to the pilot system.
A REMOX service technician repaired the pilot system and the unit
was restarted on March 15 , 1992.
At the present (March 18 , 1992 ) the REMOX has operated for a total
of 2611 hours out of a total of 3674 hours ( 71% ) , removing and
destroying 16156 pounds of gasoline range hydrocarbons for an
average of 6 . 2 pounds per hour. Since the last update status
report (February 3, 1992 ) the REMOX has operated 742 hours out of
a possible 1058 . 5 hours for a 70% operation and has
removed/destroyed 4883 pounds or 6 . 6 pounds per hour, see Tables
2, 3 and 4 and Appendix C-Air Monitoring Reports.
Condensate from vapor extraction is being collected in moisture
drop out tanks constructed of 12" PVC pipe, prior to the manifold,
to prevent moisture build up on the vacuum pump filter. All
fluids removed from the condensate traps are placed into the 1000
gallon "ConVault" within the treatment compound. As of March 18 ,
1992, a total of 9 . 29 gallons of product and 23. 73 gallons of
water have been removed from the condensate traps; 0 . 06 gallons
product and 4. 25 gallons water from EX411 , 3 . 78 gallons product and
10 . 63 gallons water from MW-10, and 5 .45 gallons product and 8 . 85
gallons water from MW2/3 . No fluids have collected in the MW-1
condensate trap.
Chromatogram comparisons, using a Shimadzu FID-Gas Chromatograph
was performed on a sample of the floating product from the MW-3
well, the water sampled from MW-2 and a sample of the floating
product from the MW2/3 condensate trap collected on March 10,
1992. This comparison showed what was expected; that as compared
to the product obtained from MW-3 , the product collected from the
condensate trap has a higher percentage of C10 and greater
hydrocarbons (degraded gasoline range) and in the "gasoline range"
hydrocarbons <C10 hydrocarnons area peaks 10 and greatei have
increased in percent, with the exception of peak 15 . Also peaks
1-9 have all decreased. The MW-2 water chromatogram is similar to
the product chromatogram from MW--3 , with the exception of the Cio
and greater hydrocarbons. This range of hydrocarbons for MW-2
water was 3 . 3% of the total area as compared to 19% of the total
area for the product from MW-3, which indicates that the Cio and
® greater hydrocarbons are not as soluble in water. A drip of dark
product was obtained from a dump valve after the manifold and
prior to the pump filter, this chromatogram was compared to the
PAGE 10
