Curran
Real Estate and Insurance MAR 3 1989
May 4, 1989 ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
PERMIT/SERVICES
Ms. Laurie Cotulla
Environmental Health Dept.
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA. 95201
RE: William R. Stewart
515 W. 11th St. Tracy, CA.
"Bill's Bait"
Dear Laurie:
On this date I spoke with Jamie Favala regarding the above referenced.
The site has some contamination which was found when the existing fuel tanks
were removed.
5
This property has been under sales contract with a prospective purchaser since
Nov. 1987. We hired Geological Technics of Modesto to evaluate the problem !
and come up with a work program to mitigate the contamination. This was done
and has been in Environmental Health's hands since Nov. 1988. Jamie says
that the work load has precluded them from addressing the issue.
i
Due to the fact that a sale has been pending since Nov. 1987, tests have
been taken, tanks removed it is imperative that we bring this issue to a
conclusion.
It is my understanding that there is a pilot program being started to assess
these toxic issues that are pending. We would greatly appr-er.iate any help
you might be able to render in th4s., situation.
Our objection is to at least get permission to install new tanks and
lines so that the new owner can start operation of a mini-market. It is
my understanding that a monitoring well could be installed to track the
future of the site but would allow to get back in operation. Without this
being done, Mr. Stewart the current owner cannot make the sale. He is out
of funds after having paid over $65,000.00 to get to todays issue. Needs
proceeds from sale to pay for any further assessment or mitigation measures.
Your ass tance and response to this issue would be deeply appreciated.
Respec ly mitted,
CU R ESTATE- Agent
CC: Wm. ewart, Al Costa- agent for purchaser
P.
