(Wright) has prepared this monitoring well installation
workplan for the above referenced site. As you know, several phases of work have been
performed at this site, most recently the soil excavation and removal work. This workplan is in
response to a request from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJC
EHD) for reinstalling wells MW-3 and MW-9 that were abandoned for the excavation. The
purpose of re-installing the wells is to provide groundwater monitoring at approximately similar
locations for groundwater monitoring in the area of the historically observed dissolved plume.
The well locations will be very near or in the excavated area and placed to monitor
approximately the same vertical aquifer thickness as the previous wells.
Scope of Work
Exploratory Drilling and Soil Sampling
Two borings will be advanced for the well re-installation. Drilling permits will be secured from
the SJC EHD, and all utilities will be cleared prior to doing the field work. The borings will be
advanced to depths of about 20- feet.
The boreholes will be drilled with truck mounted hollowstem auger drilling equipment. All
drilling equipment and sampling tools will be cleaned prior to arriving, between driving samples
and before leaving the site. The augers or drill rods will be advanced to the desired sampling
depth interval, and a drive split spoon sampler will be driven ahead of the drill bit. The sampler
will be retrieved and dissembled, and if any soil filled brass or acetate liners are retained for
chemical analysis, will be sealed with Teflon® paper or foil and plastic endcaps. Each sample
will be labeled, logged onto chain-of-custody forms and place in a chilled ice chest on crushed
ice. Drill cuttings will be drummed and left on-site.
707 E. 11th Street,#120 • Tracy,CA 95376
209.833.0758 • Fax 209.832.5152 page 1 of 3
wright@inreach.com Lie. #651501 A-B HazMat, C21
websit http://wrightenvimnmentalse"ices.com
