v
The cuirently available chemical analysis data from soil samples in the excavated area,
and surface observations of discolored soil indicate some additional contaminated soil is
present. It is Wright's opinion that since the equipment has been mobilized and the
contamination is present in greater quantity and is also located between MW-3 and MW-9
it is prudent to remove this additional contaminated soil as a part of the source removal at
this time.
Wright has estimated that an additional 775-Tons, (480-cy) of contaminated soil would
be excavated. Total contaminated soil now estimated to be excavated is 1075-Tons (668-
cy). The volume of soil estimated as acceptable to excavate has been identified to Wright
by the State Fund claim representative as somewhere between 500 and 1000-cubic yards;
with the former being preferable and the later approaching the perceived limit that other
corrective action methods may prove more cost effective on the typical site. Wright will
not exceed the upper limit of 1000-cubic yards.
4. This additional excavation some of which has already been completed will take
approximately 10 additional work days and increase Wrights projected costs from
approximately $160,000.00 to $275,000.00 a net increase of $115,000.00 at the rates
allowable by the State Fund and previously submitted for review. }
A report of the excavation including the quantity of soil and groundwater removed,
chemical analysis mass balance calculations and chain-of-custody forms and narrative of
removal and monitoring well destruction and reinstallation will be prepared after all field
work is completed as provided for in the previously approved work plan.
If you have any questions, please call.
Sincerely, Jl
i Wright Environmental Services, Inc.
To In Lynch` CAstoperA
President C.E.G. 1262; H.G. 246
Cc: Ms. Janice Cox-Brown
Mr. Dennis Cox _
'Mr. Gary L.
