I: 8-13-1998 10=36AM FROM HORIZON/ELDORADO 916 939 21 /2 r- 4
i
Farmer Discovery Chevrolet July 21, 1998
7kacv California Request for Csrourdwater Disc mj
i
approximately 713 ppb of TPHg and the highest concentration was 2,400 ppb of TPHg.
Groundwater monitoring wells MW-1 and MW-2 are located at the southern and northern
ends of the former UST pit at the site,as shown on the Site Plan(Figure 2).
Horizon is proposing to pump the groundwater into a rented AST for temporary storage at the
site. The groundwater will then be pumped through one 200-pound granular-activated carbon
canister. A 200-pound carbon canister has the potential to adsorb up to 30 pounds of
hydrocarbons before breakthrough. Using the highest concentration of 2,400 ppb of TPHg,
and the anticipated volume of 2,000 gallons of water to be pumped, it is estimated that only
0.3 pounds of TPHg will need to be removed from the groundwater to produce.treated
groundwater with nondcteetabie hydrocarbons. Therefore, one 200-pound granular-activated
carbon canister should be sufficient to process the pumped groundwater prior to discharge into
the sanitary sewer system. It is anticipated that this work will be performed during August
1998.
Please call us at(916)939-2170 if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
HOR_IZO'N ENVIRONMENTAL INC.
--9/
Ken Mateik
Project Geologist
Attachments- Figure 1,Site Vicinity Map
Figure 2, Site Plan
cc: Ms. Michelle Nokes, Antioch Toyota
I
3001-21,dsp 2 HORIZON(ENVIROKKENTAL INC.
