Former Discovery Chevrolet August 25, 1998
TracY,California Results of Field Test on Extracted Water Treatment
On August 25, Kiff reported the analytical results for the two groundwater samples. The
groundwater sample collected prior to treatment indicated detectable concentrations of TPHg
(of 530 parts per billion [ppb]) and BTEX (between 0.83 ppb and 64 ppb). The groundwater
sample collected after treatment through the granular-activated carbon canister indicated
nondetectable concentrations of TPHg (less than 50 ppb) and BTEX (less than 0.5 ppb). The
Iaboratory analytical data sheets and the chain-of-custody reports are included as Attachment A
to this letter.
As discussed in Horizon's August 18 letter, the single 200-pound granular-activated carbon
canister should be sufficient to process the approximately 6,000 gallons of water prior to
discharge into the sanitary sewer system. Upon receipt of this letter and the attached results,
would you please provide written authorization for discharge of the treated water. It is
anticipated that the water discharge work will be performed on August 27 and 28, 1998.
Please feel free to visit the site during the discharge process to examine our work.
Please call us at(916) 939 - 2170 if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC.
7
Ken Mateik
Registered Geologist
C.E.G.
