Mr. Ed Ralston -2 - 20 October 2008
Former Union Oil Bulk Plant, TAY
2. ConocoPhillips needs to analyze the floor and sidewall soil samples from the excavations
prior to backfilling to ensure that all contaminated soil has been removed. Depth to
groundwater is eight feet below ground surface, which is near the total depth proposed for
the excavations. If ConocoPhillips encounters groundwater during excavation activities, it.
needs to pump out the water and dispose of it properly. In addition, if water re-enters the
excavation, ConocoPhillips needs to collect a grab sample and submit it to the laboratory
for analysis of petroleum hydrocarbons and include the results in the report of findings.
3. The report of findings needs to show the dimensions of the excavations and the soil
sample locations.
4. ConocoPhillips needs to analyze the soil gas samples for the leak detection compound in
addition to the petroleum compounds and include this information on the analytical data
tables.
In summary, by 13 March 2009, please submit a report of findings for this work.
