Penny Silzer
Page 2
INTERIM REMEDIAL ACTION
PHS/EHD agrees that interim remedial action would be appropriate to reduce the
contaminated soil which is a continuous source of contamination to groundwater. The
preferred interim remedial action alternative included soil vapor extraction, air sparging,
continued investigation of groundwater contamination, and continued groundwater
monitoring.
Please proceed with efforts to secure an Authority to Construct permit from the San
Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District. Please submit by June 30, 1993 a
work plan to install the vapor extraction system and to continue the soil and groundwater
contamination which has been requested.
The report indicated that a release occurred from the underground piping associated
with the above ground storage tanks which contain gasoline and diesel in 1976. Please
forward copies of all further reports to the attention of Wendy Cohen, Above Ground
Storage Tank Unit of the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
(CVRWQCB). Copies should continue to be forwarded to PHS/EHD and to Elizabeth
Thayer, Underground Storage Tank Unit of the CVRWQCB.
If you have any questions or to schedule a site inspection, please contact Mary Meays,
REHS, of my staff at (209) 468-0337.
Jogi Khanna, M.D., M.P.H.
Health Offs
 L
La
urie A.
