t
SITE HEALTH& SAFETY PLAN
1.0 INTRODUCTION
A. OVERVIEW
This Project Safety Plan delineates the basic safety requirements for the
drilling of a minimum of three groundwater monitoring wells at the
Unocal fuel terminal located at 8203 West lith Street,. between
Macarthur Drive and Cabe Road in Tracy,California.
1
The above referenced site is currently an operating Unocal bulk transfer
station. The property is owned by Unocal.
- During the removal of a 5,000 gallon transmission fluid tank from the .
southwest portion of the property on December 13, 1989, samples were
3 collected for laboratory analysis. Diesel #2, toluene, ethylbenzene, and
xylenes were detected at maximum concentrations of 24,.0.15, 4.9, and
12 parts per million (ppm), respectively. Based on these analytical
results, the San Joaquin County Department of Health Services issued a
letter dated January 30, 1989 requesting further investigation.
The provisions set forth in this plan will apply as minimum guidelines to
be followed by the employees of Pacific Environmental Group, Inca and
their subcontractors working on this phase of the project. The subcon-
tractors may elect to modify these provisions, but only to upgrade or
increase the safety requirements, and only with the concurrence of Pacific
Environmental Group,Inc.as designated and accepted in writing.
2.0 PROJECT SAFETY,AUTHORITY
A.
