Figure 3 presents a typical well construction detail. Following
well completion, the elevations of the vault boxes and tops of
casing of all of the monitoring wells will be surveyed by a
licensed surveyor to mean sea level datum.
All drill cuttings will be stockpiled on-site and covered with
Plastic. Soil samples will be collected from the stockpile and
composited for laboratory analysis for total petroleum
hydrocarbons, calculated as gasoline, diesel, oil, transmission.
fluid, and BTEX compounds. The results of the analysis will be
reviewed to determine the appropriate disposition of the
stockpiled soils.
5 k
jrzroundwater Sam li o a
All three monitoring wells will be sampled by PACIFIC. The
sampling procedure consists of first measuring the water level
in each well with an electronic water-level indicator, and
f checking for the presence of separate phase petroleum product. i
Absence of separate'phase product will be checked using a clear
Teflon bailer. If separate phase product is observed in a
monitoring well, the well will not be sampled for laboratory
analysis.
rwells that do not contain separate phase product will be purged
s a minimum of four casing volumes of water
(or to dryness)
using centrifugal purging,
temperature, H and
electrical willbe stable,
in order
to document that a representative sample is obtained. These
measurements, as well as turbidity observations, will be
recorded on field data sheets. After water levels partially 1[
recover, a sample will be collected using a Teflon bailer and
will be placed into appropriate EPA-approved containers. The }
samples will be labeled, logged onto chain-of-custody documents,
and transported on ice to a California State-certified
K laboratory.
A1-1,.purge ,water will be contained .in storage drums .on:site.
Results of the water analysis will be used to determine
s appropriate disposal of the purge water.
"s
z
v
i
i
