Landfill Expansion. The environmental issues to be discussed in the SEIR
include (1) Air Quality/Odors: The SEIR will access the public health consequences
from potential chronic, acute, or accidental release of designated hazardous wastes into
the air from the proposed expansion of the disposal footprint and (2) Climate Change:
The SEIR will analyze issues of greenhouse gas emissions related to the operations of
the project and the corresponding traffic. The revised project in the proposed SEIR in
relation to the Final EIR does not include the previously proposed expansion of landfill
operations onto the adjacent 184.0 acre parcel. The District commented on the 2012
Draft EIR for the Forward Landfill Expansion project (District reference # 20120584).
The major modifications being proposed are:
• Increase the existing disposal footprint from approximately 355 acres to 366 acres
• Increase the remaining landfill capacity by approximately 7.7 million cubic yards (cy),
from 20.0 million cy (as of February 2014) to approximately 27.7 million cy
• Relocation of 3,200 feet of the South Branch of the South Fork of Littlejohns Creek
to the southeastern boundaries of the project site
Seyed Secfredln
Executive DiroctorlAlr Pollution Control Officer
Northern(legion Central(legion(Main Office) Southorn Region
4800 Enterprise Way 1990 E.Gettysburg Avenue 34946 Flyover Court
Modesto,CA 953568718 Fresno,CA 937269244 Bakersfield,CA 93308-9725
Tel:(209)5576400 FAX:(209)5576475 Tel:(559)2306000 FAX:(55912306051 Tel:661.3925500 FAX:661.3925585
mwi.valleyair.org mvw.heal thyairfiving.com
Am'M ilcr•'klpfFti
