t <br /> n C) <br /> ❑ One on the North side of Avena Road serving the residence that is just south of the`shop <br /> facility. <br /> ❑ One on the North side of Avena Road serving the residence which is south of the existing <br /> milk parlor. <br /> ❑ One, to be abandoned, on the north side of the existing milk parlor. <br /> ❑ One on the North side of Avena Road, serving the duplex residence and a mobilehome. <br /> ❑ New proposed to the north of milking parlor for employees during the milking operation. <br /> The human effluent septic systems are considered to be insignificant.35 <br /> • Corral runoff: <br /> _ Corral runoff is directed to drains that are strategically located to collect all site runoff and conduct <br /> r _ it to the settling ponds. <br /> Agricultural liquid manure effluent storage ponds: <br /> There are three nutrient laden water storage areas. One and two, being the settling ponds; third is <br /> the flush lagoon. Reference the site plan for locations. <br /> These areas will have clay that will meet the requirement by the State Water Quality Control Board <br /> of a minimum of 10% clay and no more than 10% gravel content at the liner of a liquid storage <br /> lagoon. <br /> • Agricultural solids storage areas: <br /> There are two classifications of surface manure storage areas, the composting area and the cattle <br /> corrals. These areas will be graded with slopes to cause runoff to flow to drains that conduct it to <br /> the settling ponds. These areas will be evaluated upon completion of the grading. The evaluation <br /> will consist of random soil sampling that will be analyzed for clay content. These results will be <br /> required to meet the minimum requirement to contain a minimum 10% clay. <br /> • Nitrate impacted groundwater: <br /> To provide base line data in order to evaluate any potential future impacts to ground water by the <br /> Dairy Facility, twelve ground water samples were collected. Sample locations are on thelWater <br /> Sample Locations map, in Appendices Section B. For Groundwater Sampling Procedures, <br /> see Appendices Section B. <br /> For a more detailed discussion of groundwater sampling, see the Soil Suitability Study. <br /> Nitrate was above the potable limit in one irrigation well and four domestic wells. There are multiple <br /> j sources with the potential to degrade the groundwater in the vicinity of the dairy facility. The dairy <br /> operation has been an intensive agricultural/farming area for many years. Many of the neighboring <br /> properties use commercial fertilizers for their crops. Vineyards and orchards using commercial <br /> fertilizers and chemicals commonly have run-off& penetration of groundwater. <br /> Based only on the test results from these wells and the fact that we are not sure from what depths <br /> or from what aquifer the domestic water samples have been pumped from, it can only be <br /> concluded that the groundwater nitrate levels in the general area are impacted. <br /> See Page 47 for References and Bibliography <br /> Q Western Dairy Design Associates, Inc.2003 <br /> F; <br /> a Page 32 <br />
