number seven. A lift pump and a 10" pipe return any excess irrigation water from the tailwater
pond to the east side of the field.
The tailwater pond located in the southwest corner of cropping field number seven is located
adjacent to Lone Tree Creek. It is equipped with piping and valves which will be closed to prevent
nutrient water entry into the Lone Tree Creek, or, when nutrient water is not present, can be
opened to utilize Lone Tree Creek water for irrigation, or for emergency winter drainage to Lone
9 Y 9
Tree Creek. The water level in the tailwater pond is substantially lower than the lowest level of
the creek, so discharge of field water to the creek will be unlikely or not possible.except during
extreme winter rainfall events, and nutrient water irrigation is not practiced in the winter season.
It should be noted that Parcel No. 203-200-03 has been subject to recent lot line revisions.
Depending on the age of the APN map being viewed, it was formerly 203-200-19 or 203-200-11.
It should also be noted that Parcel No. 203-200-21 is subject to a recent or pending lot line
revision. Formerly it was part of 203-200-16. Parcel 203-200-21 is immediately north of 203-200-
03.
Cropping field number eight as numbered on the Site Approval application, Assessor's Parcel No.
205-04-01, receives nutrient water blended with clear water from a 12" pipe along the east side,
and flows east to west across the field. Any excess water will flow south along the west end of the
field, where it is directed by a ditch and berm which separate it from field number two and from the
s Avena Drain. The drain ditch is routed to the tailwater pond located in the northwest corner of
cropping field number three. A culvert will carry this water across the Avena Drain. This culvert
will prevent contamination of the Avena Drain.
Settling Pond Manure Removal Management
There are two settling ponds, to allow continuous operation. When the settling pond in use
becomes full of solids, nutrient water flow is diverted to the other settling pond. The full settling
pond is allowed to dry out for one to two weeks. The majority of the solids are removed with a
back hoe, leaving a portion of the solids at the exit end of the pond to act as a solids filter. This
settling pond is now ready to be put into service when the other settling pond becomes full'.
t
See Page 47 for References and Bibliography .
O Western Dairy Design Associates,Inca 2003
Page 46
