_ r A
June 13,2005
NOA Project Number: E05042A
-6.2." Number of Percolation Tes3ts _
One shallow percolation test was conducted on each parcel of the Site for a total of four shallow
.percolation tests-.--- '-
6.3 ,
ests 6.3 Boring Preparation and Presaturation
The soil boring was advanced.on the-Site with a hand augur on April 28, 2005,
A 1:5-inch diameter PVC pipe with perforations on the bottom was used to measure the drop of
= water in the percolation test boring. Approximately 2 inches of"' ravel" were placed in the
p g ea gravel"
bottom of the open soil boring, then the PVC pipe was installed on top of the gravel. "Pea gravel"
was use_d to_ backfill in the annular space.
Presaturation of the percolatiorn test hole'occurred on April 28, 2005.--The depth of water used to
- ^pre-soak was 12 inches above the bottom of the boring.
G.4 Condition of Borings AfteraPresaturation
After the 24-hour soak period, the presaturated holes were found to be intact and dry on the day of
-testir g. V - -
_ 6.5 Percolation Test
'Procedure
The percolation tests w onducted on April 29, 2005 in accordance-with the requirements of the
t-' - -EHD. =A percolation test with a duration of four hours was performed for each hole. The final
half-hour of the four-hour percolation tests were observed by Mr. David Van Dyne, Senior
Registered Environmental Health Specialist,EHD. E
-Measurement of the w'ate'r level during the percolation test was from a fixed reference point on the
i" PVC casing using an electric well sounder with an depth accuracy of 1/100th foot. All tabulated
values`ori the field data sheet (appendix) are in decimal feet. After water drop was observed, the
holes wcre checked for refill. The ref -level was approximately 0.5. ft (6 inches) of water above the
F1 bottom level of the percolation test hole._.The readings were taken approximately every 30 minutes
fora period of four hours.
-6.6 Percolation Test Forms and Results
-The completed.percolation test forms are.included in the appendix of this report.
L T_ A shallow percolabon Ytestis defined by the EHD as being between 36 and 42 inches in depth; a
F.
_. satisfactory percolation rate'for a shallow test is less than or equal to 60 minutes per inch drop.
Details of the percolation tests are summarized in Table 6.
