August 29, 2006
NOA Project Number: E06084A
! I
5.0 SOIL PROFILE AND GEOLOGIC INFORMATION
The site is depicted on the Preliminary Geologic Map of the San Francisco - San Jose Cenozoic
Quadrangle, as within a region of Quaternary Fan deposits. The unit consists of gravel, sand, silt
and clay (Plate 3).
The surface and near surface soils located at the site are reported by the San Joaquin County Soil Survey
to be composed of the Capay clay, wet, 0-2% slopes and Vernalis clay loam, 0-2% slopes (Plate 4)
Fj (USDA, 1992). Table 3 presents some selected properties of the soils:
Table 3.
ASan Joaquin County Soil Survey
Selected Soil Properties of On-Site Soils.
Soil Name Depth Unified Soil Classification Salinity Soil Perme- Septic tank
and Map (in) rnmhos/ Reaction ability absorption
Symbol cm pH (in/hr) fields
Capay clay, 0-20: Clay: CH,CL <4 6.6- 8.4 0.06-0,2 Poor:too
wet,0-2% 20-44: Clay,silty clay: CL,CH <4 6.6-8.4 0,06-0.2 clayey
slopes,121. 44-60: Silty clay loam,clay loam;CL <4 6.6-8.4 0.06-0.2
Vernalis 0-9: Clay loam;CL <2 6.6-8.4 0.2-0.6 Severe:peres
clay loam, 9-47: Loam,silt loam,clay loam;CL,Cl- <2 7.4-8.4 0.6-2.0 slowly
wet,0-2% NIL
y slopes,269. 47-60: Stratified sandy loam to silty clay <2 7.9-8.4 0.6-2.0
jl loam;CL CL-ML
Note:The table descriptions do not necessarily reflect site-specific soil properties.
Fj 5.1 Soil Boring Locations
CTw shallow borings and one groundwater boring were advanced on the Site. The groundwater boring was drilled
to a depth of 8.5 feet. The shallow boxings were used later for percolation test holes;the locations of
the percolation test borings are indicated in Plate 1.
5.2 Soil Boring Dimensions
The percolation test borings were approximately three and a half feet deep,as noted above, and /
were four inches in diameter.
6
