00 ® 43
zY
LINDA HEISIG QUARRY PERMIT APPLICATION
RECLAMATION PLAN DATA
1. DESCRIPTION OF ENVIROMENTAL SETTING:
A. SEE MAPS
B. GEOLOGY
1. This site location is on the western part of the ranch and is bound by Whiskey
Slough along the south property line and the Middle River slough along the
west property line. The ranch is located on Lower Roberts Island with small
and medium sized ranches to the north and to the east. The lands to the north
and east of this project are a heavy rich dirt consisting of peat and silty dirt
combinations. This proposed quarry site also has areas that are rich in this
peat/dirt combination. But a large area of this site has been non productive,
as this site was used as a spoils deposit site for the creation of Whiskey Slough
and as suchfhas never.produced a productive crop because,of all the sand that,
was pumped onto this site nearly,a hundred years ago.
C. HYDROLOGY
1. There is-not a surface or,.ground,water.resource on this site except fortwo
water siphons used for irrigation shown'on plans from the two different
sloughs abutting subject site along south and west property boundary lines.
j D. SOIL ASSESSMENT
1. See attached FGL Fruit Growers Laboratory soils analysis. These soil analyses
were taken for the topsoil to be reused and the sand which is a very sub standard
material for farming.
E. VEGETATION/WILDLIFE
I
1. The farmer who owns this site stated that they have never seen any wildlife or
animals on this property and the farmable half of ranch is always diced and
planted each year with crops and the.non productive portion is-diced-and
planted in winter.oats so the.ground is.always disturbed and too busy for,.
wildlife to remain on site. A borrowing Owl survey was taken with no notice
of any activity. A Borrowing Owl survey was also taken at another site for a
grading leveling excavation that also showed no Owl activity in this general
vicinity located one and half miles to the east.
1
i
