This facility will greatly increase the
number of tractor/trailers attempting a left-hand turn onto Highway 88, which is
already a very difficult maneuver. Current large truck traffic from the Fairchild
area has developed an alternate route to South 99, using Alpine Road to Highway 26.
These large trucks on Alpine Road pass directly in front of Glenwood School, at speeds
greatly in excess of the posted school zone speed limits.
Fairchild Road is utilized daily by Linden Unified school buses, and is a major artery
for access to Waverly School. Our buses also experience long delays attempting to
turn left on Waterloo Road/Highway 88 out of Fairchild, due to the heavy', traffic i n
moth directions. We believe a condition of approval of this Site Approval Application
must be the installation of traffic lights at Fairchild and Waterloo Road. The existence
of traffic lights at this corner would encourage trucks to access Highway 99 from
Waterloo Road, and eliminate or reduce the hazard we are experiencing on Alpine
Road present time.
1
Inter 1 ,
k
Ro ald J. tes, Superintendent
en los e
Cc: Municipal Advisory Committee ,
Board of Supervisors
i
r
