Soil Suitability Nitrate Loading Study 1 rerracon
Recreation Vehicle Service Facility ■ Lockeford, CA
April 12, 2017■ Terracon Project No. NA177006
2.3.3 Current On-Site Sources of Nitrate
The current on-site sources of nitrate include natural processes.
2.3.4 Future On-Site Sources of Nitrate
Future on-site sources of nitrate are discussed in section 1.3.7. \
2.3.4.1 Quantity and Quality of Wastewater from Project
The following discussion is for determining the long-term wastewater flow generated from the
proposed construction. We understand that the project will consist of an approximately 4,875
square foot commercial building used as an RV repair facility and will include one restroom with
no shower. The restroom will service a maximum of 2 permanent employees per day; with up to
1 visitor daily. We understand that the facility will be open between eight hours per day, five days
per week year round.
The estimated sewage flow rates for use categories are available from a number of references.
The uses presented below were guided by the San Joaquin County Onsite Wastewater Disposal
Standards (2003), Crites and Tchobanoglous (1998), and EPA (1980). The references indicate
that 15 gallons per day is typical for each employee and 5 gallons per day for visitors, when
utilizing a low-flow flush system.
The following table presents the proposed septic wastewater use forthe site. The rates presented
from the references provide general guidance but do not always reflect a match in usage. Careful
examination, professional judgment, and experience are necessary to select a reasonable flow
rate estimate. The flow rates selected for the uses associated with this project are presented
below.
Table 7.
Typical Quantity of Effluent.
Total Average Quantity Average days of
Category People per Person Average Daily Flow
per Day (gallons) use per year
Permanent (2 person x 15 gal x
Employees 2 '15 260 260days)/ 365 days per
year=21.37 gpd
(1 person x 5 gal x 260
Visitors 1 *5 260 days)/365 days per year
= 3.56 gpd
Average Daily Flow from Existing Septic 25 gallons per day
Responsive ■ Resourceful ■ Reliable 14
