SU-92-6 F
Dear Mr. Larrouy,
I received notification of an application to rezone 30 . 79 acres
of agricultural land to residential . This acreage is less than
one-half of a mile off the end of runway 32 at airport . It is I
also directly under the landing pattern for both runways 26 and
8 .
Allowing a subdivision like this to be developed under .three
different air access ' to the airport would eventually have the
affect of closing the airport down. It would be inconsistent
with the Airport Land Use Plan adopted by the County of San
Joaquin. The State of California Division of Aeronautics has
specifications for housing around this airport and this proposed
subdivision does not fall within their parameters.
The health and safety of individuals it at stake if a proposal
such as this is adopted. Noise levels aim a constant problem
with housing around an airport. Since runway 26 was resurfaced
two years ago there has been a significant amount of jet traffic
in and out of .Lodi Airport, mainly parent companies flying in to
check on their local subsidiaries such as General Mills . We have
had very few noise complaints from long time residents of this
area but as soon as one small portion of the now defunct Woodson
Estates project .was built without notifying the airport we have
been .inundated with complaints and so has your department.
I attended the zoning meeting for the 20 year master plan update
on October 11, 1990 . At that meeting it was voted to leave all
the existing ag property in this area in ag . A variety of
expansion plans were presented to the planing commisions
regarding rezoning at that hearing , including one for this
airport , and they were all rejected.
In conclusion, a subdivision of this nature located under three
of the four air access ' to the Lodi Airport would eventually
condemn the airport. Secondly, this conversion of ag land is not
consistent with zoning in this area. If in fact this subdivision
