CAP Addendum:Former Fue ng Station, 7500 West Eleventh Street, Tracy, Page 20
centerline of West Eleventh Street, SJC has taken a very much more conservative
approach for the design of the extraction system to be developed on the north side of
West Eleventh Street. We propose to pump 10,000 gallons of LNAPL and highly-
contaminated groundwater from the extraction trench, which is five times greater than the
volume extracted from Tank Pit No. 1. Pumping of a large volume of groundwater
affected by dissolved components of fuel hydrocarbons from the subsurface will make a
contribution to conversion of anaerobic groundwater conditions in the area around
Monitoring Well MW-7 to aerobic conditions. However, our primary purpose in electing
to pump a full 10,000 gallons from the extraction trench is to provide comfortable margin
of additional flow through the soil to flush out and remove pockets of floating product
from the subsurface.
