Work Plon for Extended Site Ch'�Wcterization: 7500 West Eleventh Street, Tracy, CA. Page 1 ,. 1.0 INTRODUCTION This work plan has been prepared for an extended site characterization program at the site of ,,.. a former fueling station at 7500 West Eleventh Street, Tracy, California. The proposed work is intended to improve understanding of the lateral and vertical extent of a plume of affected groundwater emanating from the former locations of underground tanks and fuel dispensing r� islands that had been located on the property. An initial phase of site characterization work was completed in May 2000, and a site �- characterization report (The San Joaquin Company Inc. 2001d) was submitted to the San Joaquin County Public Health Services (SJCPHS) in January 2001. Including the round conducted at the time of the initial site characterization work, there have been four rounds of groundwater-quality monitoring conducted at the site, the last of which occurred on September 11, 2001. (The San Joaquin Company Inc. 2001 c, 2001b, 2001a.) Asp The SJCPHS, in a letter dated July 3, 2001, requested installation of additional groundwater- quality monitoring wells to: (1) improve understanding of the down-gradient extent of the contaminant plume; (2) investigate the environmental condition of the subsurface beneath an area close to the southern boundary of the property, which appears either to have been affected by petroleum hydrocarbons migrating from an up-gradient source or emanating from a local, on-site source; and (3) improve definition of the vertical extent of contamination of groundwater, particularly in the area where the principal releases of hydrocarbon fuels to the ` subsurface had occurred prior to the cessation of fuelling operations at the property (San �.. Joaquin County Public Health Services 2001). 1.1 Site Location The subject property is situated at 7500 West Eleventh Street, Tracy, California, at the intersection of Chrisman Road and West Eleventh Street.
