+ Work Plan for Extended Site Checterization: 7500 West Eleventh Street, Tracy, CA.d Page 10
. open-stem auger, drilling rig operated by a drilling contractor holding a C57 license issued
by the California Contractors State License Board. A California-licensed geotechnical
engineer will log the borings. The well casings will be 2-in. diameter PVC with 0.02-in.,
.. machine cut screen slots. These and other details of the well construction will be as shown
either on Figure 7 or 8, depending upon the design of the screened interval of the specific
well type to be installed.
While the borings for the proposed monitoring wells are being drilled, the drilling equipment
will be used to recover soil samples in clean, brass tubes from a depth of 5 ft. in each hole -
•- and at 5-ft. intervals thereafter, to the bottom of the boring. However, the engineer may direct
additional or alternate samples to be obtained if the conditions revealed by the boring
indicate such to be appropriate.
Following sample recovery, each sample tube will be cleaned externally, its ends covered
with Teflon foil and closed with tightly fitting plastic caps secured with adhesive-less tape.
Each sample tube will then be labeled for identification, entered into chain-of-custody
control and packed on chemical ice for transport to Chromalab's laboratory within 24 hours.
In the case of the small-diameter exploratory boring PP-15, proposed to be drilled along the
west side of Chrisman Road to the north of West Eleventh Street, a 0.5-in. push probe will be
mounted on the drilling rig and used to advance the boring into the subsurface. Soil samples
will be recovered from the probe hole at approximate 4-ft. intervals using a 4-ft long, split-
spoon sampling tool with a t/z-inch diameter Teflon liner.
Each soil sample submitted to the laboratory will be analyzed for the following suite of
analytes.
Anal3qe Method of Analysis
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons EPA Method 5030/8015
(quantified as Diesel)
jW Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons EPA Method 8020A/8015
(quantified as Gasoline)
,r Benzene EPA Method 8020
Toluene EPA Method 8020
Ethyl benzene EPA Method 8020
Total Xylene Isomers EPA Method 8020
Note. The grab sample of groundwater recovered from push-probe boring PP-15 will be
analyzed for methyl-tertiary butyl ether(MTBE) as well as the suite of analytes listed above.
sic
