Recommendations for Navarra Site June 2006 Page 2 of 2
2. CLOSURE OF WELLS IN DEEPER AQUIFERS
Proposed Action: Close Monitoring Wells MW-3A, 313 and 12A.
Rationale: Deeper aquifers are hydraulically separate from near surface
aquifer. Extensive monitoring has demonstrated that they are free
of chemicals of concern. Unnecessary wells -in yard heavily-
trafficked by trucks pose risk of contamination of pristine aquifers
by fuel spills, which have occurred at the site-in the past.
3. MONITORING AND MANAGEMENT OF FLOATING PRODUCT IN MW-7
Purging Frequency: Semi-annually
Next Round: July, 2006
Rationale: Current rate of accumulation of LNAPL in Monitoring Well MW-
7 does not justify purging more frequently than once every 6
months.
4. POTABLE WATER-QUALITY MONITORING
Proposed Action: Discontinue potable water-quality monitoring
Rationale: Deep formations from which potable water wells extract
groundwater are hydraulically isolated from affected groundwater
in shallow near-surface aquifer. Two years of quarterly sampling
of potable water found no detectable concentrations of any
analytes of concern.
