FI c
April 29, 2005
NOA Project Number: E05040A
J 6.2 Number of Percolation Tests
y _
One shallow and one deep percolation test were conducted on each proposed sample of the Site, for
a total of 13 shallow and 13 deep percolation tests.
6.3 _ _Boring Preparation.and Presaturation
P,
A total of one shallow and one deep soil borings were advanced on each parcel of the Site with a
truck-mounted deep rock augur rig on March 30, 2005,April 11, 2005 and April 21, 2005.
F1
A 1.5-inch diameter PVC pipe with perforations on the bottom was used to measure the drop of
water in the percolation test boring. Approximately 2 inches of"pea gravel" were placed in the
bottom of the open soil boring, then the PVC pipe was installed on top of the gravel. "Pea Gravel'
was then used to backfill in the annular space.
Presaturation of the-percolation test holes occurred on March 31, 2005,April 3, 2005 April 19, 2005
- and April 21, 2005. The depth of water used to pre-soak was 12 inches above the bottom of the
boring.
6.4 Condition of Borings After Presaturation
After the 24-hour soak period, the presaturated holes were found to be intact on April 1, 2005,April
4, 2005,April 20, 2005 and April 22, 2005. The shallow percolation test holes on Parcels 8 and 15-
19 contained water in the bottom, all other shallow holes and deep percolation test holes were found
to be dry.
6.5 Percolation Test Procedure
f ' Percolation tests were conducted for the shallow borings on Parcels 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19 on April 1,
g p
2005 in accordance with the requirements of the EHD. A percolation test with a duration of four
hours was performed for each.hole. The last half an hour of each test was observed by Mr.
L Raymond Borges, Senior Regis tered Environmental Health Specialist, EHD. Percolation tests were
conducted for the deep borings on Parcels 15; 16,.17, 18 and 19 on April 4,2005 in accordance with
the requirements of the EHD. A percolation test with a duration of four hours was performed for
each hole. The last half an hour o£each test was observed by Mr. David Van Dyne, Senior
Registered Environmental Health Specialist, EHD. Percolation tests were conducted for the borings
on Parcels 8, 11, 12, 13 and 20 on April 20, 2005 in accordance with the requirements of the EHD.
A percolation test with a duration of four hours was performed for each hole. The last half an hour
of each test was observed by Mr. Larry Godinho, Senior Registered Environmental Health
Specialist, EHD. Percolation tests were conducted for the borings on Parcels 9, 10 and f4 on April
22, 2005 in accordance with the requirements of the EHD, A percolation test with a duration of
four hours was performed for each hole. The last half an hour of each test was observed by Mr.
David Van Dyne, Senior Registered Environmental Health Specialist, EHD.
