Page 6 <br /> I <br /> " <br /> 'f".., Note: The results of analyses of samples of soil recovered from the tank pits, the pipe <br /> ipe <br /> trenches and the dispenser pit are discussed in Section 7.3.1. <br /> ; r <br /> 3.3 Back-filling of Excavations <br /> To secure the site, after the tanks were removed and lose material excavated, gravel was <br /> placed in the bottom of Tank Pit No. 1 until the gravel's surface was just above the water <br /> table. It was then compacted by vibration so that the bottom of the pit was stable and dry. <br /> The remainder of the pit was then filled with clean overburden and other material that <br /> F had covered the tanks. Available material from the excavations of the tank pits was also <br /> used to backfill Tank Pit No. 2 and similar material was used to back-fill the Dispenser <br /> Pit. <br /> ._ 3.4 Disposition of Affected Soil Removed from Excavations <br /> At the direction of the SJCEHD, the 521.25 tons of affected soil that had been stockpiled <br /> =i on the site was disposed off-site at the Forward Landfill, a Class II disposal facility in <br /> Manteca, California. <br /> k_I� <br /> . i <br /> G - <br /> sic <br /> I � <br />
