1
25288 N Cherokee Lane Project No.2018-00018 Page 17
1
5.0 DISCUSSION OF NITRATE LOADING RESULTS
' S.1 Total Nitrate Impact
' Based on the methods and assumptions described,in addition to our professional judgement
and geologic setting,we believe the proposed project is unlikely to cause a build-up of nitrate
in the ground water above the US EPA MCL of 10 mg/L-N over the long term.
' S.2 Methods of Mitigation
' Based on the result of the nitrate loading calculation,in conjunction with the geologic setting
and nitrate background concentration level, we don't believe mitigation measures are
warranted at this time.
' 6.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
' Our office concludes that the proposed project will not likely cause a build-up of nitrates
above the US EPA MCL concentration of 10 mg/L-N in the ground water.
Currently, no mitigation measures are recommended. Mitigation measures may be
recommended/required by EHD at further date. To mitigate potential buildup of nitrate in
the aquifer, measures should be utilized which improve retention time and digestion within
the septic and/or improvement of conditions within the leach field, such as utilization of a
filter bed system.
' If the county requires an engineered septic system, Petralogix can provide these services for
an additional cost at the time of the request. We appreciate the opportunity to provide our
' nitrate loading study services.
' 7.0 LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed, our findings obtained, and our conclusions
' proposed in accordance with generally accepted engineering principles and practices. This
warranty is in lieu of all other warranties either expressed or implied. Test findings and
statements of professional opinion do not constitute a guarantee or warranty, expressed or
' implied.
The professional findings contained in this nitrate loading study are strictly based on the
information provided regarding the proposed project, other consultant's reports and
' conclusions, surficial geologic conditions encountered across the site by others.
Furthermore, the analysis, conclusions and recommendations contained in this report are
' based on the site conditions as they existed at the time we performed our study.
Our professional services were performed, our findings obtained, and our professional
' opinions are in accordance with generally accepted geologic principles and practices.
