February 22, 2006
NOA Project Number: E06010A
4.5 Well Water Sample Collection, Handling, and Transportation
Each water sample for nitrate was collected in a sterile plastic container, and each sample for DBCP
was collected in two sterile glass vials. The samples were then transported on ice and under chain of
1-{ custody to FGL Environmental, Stockton, California.
4.6 Chain of Custody
The Chain of Custody documents have been included in the appendix of this report.
5.0 SOIL PROFILE AND GEOLOGIC INFORMATION
The Site is depicted on the map Cenotioic Deposits of the Bellota Quadrangle ([JSGS 1979), as within a
region of Turlock Lake Formation. The Turlock Lake Formation is a unit of arkosic alluvium,
probably glacial outwash in part, and includes some locally-derived alluvium in areas near the
Calaveras River (Plate 7).
The surface and near surface soils located at the Site are reported by the San Joaquin County Soil Surrey
to be composed of Cometa sandy loan, 2 to 5 percent slopes, Montpellier-Cometa complex, 5 to 8
percent slopes, and San Joaquin sandy loam, 2 to 5 percent slopes (Plate 8). The following table
F1presents some selected properties of the soils:
San Joaquin County Soil Survey
Selected Soil Properties of On-Site Soils.
1
Soil Name Depth Unified Soil Classification Salinity Soil Perme- Septic tank
and Map (in) mmhos/cm Reaction ability absorption
Symbol pH (in/hr) fields
Cometa 0-22: Sandy loam;S1bI,SC-SM <2 5.6-6.5 0.6-2.0 Severe:peres
sandy loam, 22-36: Sandy clay,clay,clay loam;CL, <2 6.1-7.3 <0.06 slowly
2-5%slopes, CH
134 36-60: Stratified sandy loam to sandy <2 6.6-7.3 <0.06
clay loam;SM,SC-SM,SC
F, Montpellier- 0-20: Coarse sandy loam;SM <2 5.6-7.3 2.0-6.0 Severe:peres
Cometa 20-43: Sandy clay loam;SC <2 5.6-7.3 0.2-0.6 slowly
complex,5- 43-55: Coarse sandy loam;SM <2 6.6-7.3 0.2-0.6
8%slopes, 55-60: Sandy loam,coarse sandy loam; <2 6.1-7.3 <0.06
200.
