PERCOLATION TEST/SOIL PROFILE INSPECTION CHECKLIST San Joaquin County Development Title Chapter 9-1105, Section 9-1105.2 EHD Policy for Percolation Test Procedure 98-01 PA#: SITE LOCATION: S=Sufflecien PERMIT #: INSPECTION DATE: 1=1nsufcien S I 1.0 SITE MAP ❑ ❑ 1.1 Includes perc test and soil profile locations with accurate measurements from a fixed reference point (must be able to locate the test hole areas in the future). Perc/soil profile holes must meet distance setbacks as noted in the sewage standards for septic system locations. Percolation test holes and soil profile pits must be conducted in area proposed for future septic systems. ❑ ❑ 1.2 Notes any changes in elevation on the subject property. ❑ ❑ 1.3 Notes all water wells. ❑ ❑ 1.4 Notes all man-made features (septic systems, drives, barns, out buildings, animal pens, etc.) ❑ ❑ 1.5 Notes all natural features (ephemeral drainage courses, large stands of trees, ponds, rivers, etc). 2.0 PERC TEST PREPARATION PROTOCOL ❑ ❑ 2.1 Date and time of test hole preparation. ❑ ❑ 2.2 Diameter and depth of test hole (4" - 12" diameter and 24" - 42" depth). ❑ ❑ 2.3 Test hole preparation (scoring of sidewalls, removal of loose material). ❑ ❑ 2.4 Weather conditions at time of test (raining, windy, etc.). ❑ ❑ 2.5 Soil type and condition encountered in test hole. ❑ ❑ 2.6 Addition of 2" of rock to test hole. ❑ ❑ 2.7 Pre-soak by addition of minimum 12" of water over rock (24 hours before test). 3.0 PERC TEST CONDITIONS, MEASUREMENTS AND REPORTING - ❑ ❑ 3.1 Condition of test hole after the 24 hour pre-soak (amount of water remaining in the hole, any soil sloughing noted). ❑ ❑ 3.2 Correct amount of water used to refill hole (6" over gravel). Documented on the recordation sheet. ❑ ❑ 3.3 Description of type of perc test procedure used (Procedure #1, #2, or#3). ❑ ❑ 3.4 Accurate recordings of drop and refill of water in same measurements. ❑ ❑ 3.5 Same fixed reference point used for each reading. Description of reference point used needed for final ❑ ❑ report. 3.6 Math calculations checked for accuracy. ❑ ❑ 3.7 Last reading verified by RENS. All above reviewed and verified by REHS. 4.0 SOIL PROFILE ❑ ❑ 4.1 Description of the date, time and protocol used to prepare the soil profile pit. ❑ ❑ 4.2 Description of soil profile pit including depth and dimensions. ❑ ❑ 4.3 Soil lithology described by appropriate professional using Industry standard protocol.
