CONCLUSIONS
Based on the method and assumptions described, the result of the nitrate loading
estimate indicates that proposed development on the Site has the potential to cause a
buildup of nitrate in the aquifer of 5.5 mg/L-N, well below the MCL of 10 mg/L-N.
The depth of ground water based on recent aquifer levels is estimated to range from 75
to 90 feet below ground surface, depending on the season. The ground-water flow is to
the east-northeast at a rate of eight to 10 feet per mile.
A water sample was collected from the domestic water well on August 21, 2018. Nitrate
was detected in the sample at a concentration of 7.8 mg/L-N, below the MCL of 10
mg/L-N. DBCP was not detected in the sample.
Because of the favorable result of the nitrate loading calculation, no nitrate mitigation is
recommended at this time.
LOGE 1836 Page 10
