Dear Mr.Rose,
Per your request,we have completed our'evaluation of twelve(12)parcels located northwest of the
intersection of Cometa and Edwards Roads in Valley Home,California, This work was performed as a new
addendum to a Soil Suitability/Nitrate Loading Study dated October 12,2000. Four(4)previous addendum
letters dated November 27,2000,April 12,2001,August 21,2001,and November 27,2001 were prepared,
to supplement the original report or respond to'questions from.San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
Environmental Health Division (SJC PHS-EHD). This is the fifth addendum letter for the project.
Genera[ '
We were asked by George.Rose to complete percolation tests and prepare an.addendum letter for,
the original Soil Suitability/NitfateLoading Study for submittal to SJC PHS-EHD. This involved conducting
twenty-four(24)percolation tests,a shallow and deep percolation test on each of the twelve(12)new parcels.
'A conversation with Ms.Lisa Medona,;R.E.H.S.with SJC PHS-EHD;indicated that a report amendmentwill
be required for project approval.- She also indicated that this phase of the project involves a lot line
adjustment number LA-O1.-73and minor subdivisionnumberMS-01-33. Thelotlineadjustment(LA-01-73)
includes Parcels 21,22, 23,24,25, 26, 27, and 28. The minor subdivision MS-01-33) includes Parcels 1; f
2,3,and the remainder parcel The twelve(12)new proposed residential parcels range in fr m 2.10 to
10.78 acres..Please see attached maps for parcel location and percolation tests location-
Test Borings
On November,15, 17 and Deceffiber 4,2001,the percolation test borings were drilled. One shallow
and'one deep percolation test hole was drilled on each parcel. Generally, the soils were fairly consistent.
throughout the site. A brown sandy silt or brown sandy clay was encountered in the shallow depths up to
about 2.5-feet deep. Typically located below the surface soil is a brown siltyfine to medium sand. Within .
the brown silty finc.to medium sand is often a fairly clean fine to medium sand whose thickness is between
about 3-feet to 7-feet. Occasionally clayey soils were encountered. The percolation tests were set adjacent
to a permeable soil layer. The depth to the first permeable soil layer is presented in Table 1.
