October 12,2000
Job Number:LGW312.
Page 4
The depth to ground water at the site was found to be approximately 80-feet for 1998 (see
Plate 2 and Plate 3). The ground water flow direction in 1998 was toward the northwest and
north-northwest with a gradient of 12.5-feet per mile.
A request was submitted to the California Department of-Water Resources (DWR)to
obtain details regarding the existing water well located near the old dairy building or any other
wells. Ms. Ann Roth'(DWR)located one record for the well near the old dairy building(see
appendix for report).
Summary of DWR Information for Water WeR
DWR report no. 67738 -
State Well Number 1 S/9E-13P1
Date of completion: 4129171
Completed well depth: 200 feet.
Well type: Open bottom.
Casing interval: 0 to 186 feet
Casing diameter: 6 518 inches
Inlet interval: 186 to 200 feet.
Static water depth May 27; 1971: 76 feet.
A water sample was obtained from this well on September 26& 27,2000 and sent to FGL
Environmental Laboratory for testing. The samples were tested for the presence of .
dibromochloropropane (DBCP) and Nitrate (NO3)per County requirements..
The test results indicated that DBCP was non-detectable(ND) and.nitrate as NO3 was
found at 6.8 mg/1( 1.5 mg/1-N). The result of the, titrate test indicates the ground water is
slightly above th m um contanrin level set hy the United States Environmental Protection
Agency of 45 mg/1 NO3 for nitrate(or 10 m&4 as Nitrate N)..
n
Theresence of nitrates and DBCP n mm shallow ound- uifers
= in San Joaquin n and other arts of the ey. strate sources in ground water p
occur as a result of the application of fertilizers, livesto k waste, and untreated septic tank waste. i^'
Nitrate is mobile and often accumulates in the shallow ound-water zones.
