Several days later,Mr. REstrada,"Senior Environmental Health Specialist San Joaquin County EnvironmentalDivision, indica€ed that percolation testing for these lots would be required by the C
A decision was.made.and discussed with Mr. Estrada to conduct a shallow percolation
tests on the four small parcels at a depth of 3-feet to satisfy this requirement. Since no plans to.
' develop parcels 16, 18, 20, and 22 exist,'no extra effort was made to locate deeper sandy lenses
, that would increase the probability of achieving a satisfactory percolation rate. Mr.Estrada
indicated this would satisfy the requirement of testing each parcel regardless of pass or fail.
A percolation test was performed in each of the twenty-two(22)lots. The casing used for
the test was a 2-inch diameter PVC vive with an o en en tnn and bottom. Two (2)
inches of"pea gravel"was placed in the bottom of the hole, the casing was installed, and one(1)
foot of"pea gravel"was backfilled in the annular space.
Both a one(1) hour percolation test and a four(4) hour percolation tests were utilized to
on October 6`and 10'h, 2000 in accordance with the requirements of San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Division. The placement of the test was in a location that could be used for
placement of a future septic system. The testing of each of the parcels was observed by Mr.
Rodney Estrada, Senior registered Environmental Health Specialist, San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Division. A satisfactory ercolation was measured for each of the
parcels and are suitable for convenhonal_septic stems with leach lines and seepage pits with the
exception of parcels 18, 20, and 22 (See Appendix). Q .,
An unsatisfactory percolation rate was observed in three (3)of the four small sized lots
discussed previously. if it becomes desirable at some point to obtain satisfactory percolation rates
for parcels 18,20, and 22,we believe this is possible with a deep percolation test set adjacent to a
permeable unit.
VII.
