Groundwater Monitoring Program
Quarterly groundwater monitoring and .sampling will be conducted on groundwater monitoring
wells MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3 for four quarters. Field activities consist of monitoring depth-to-
water and.depth-to-bottom measurements. Depth-to-water readings will be used to determine the
groundwater elevation and groundwater flowdirection beneath the project site. Wells will be
monitored for free product.. Water samples will then be collected from each well after purging a
minimum of three well volumes (casing and sandpack). The ,samples will be sent using chain-of-
custody record to a State-certified laboratory analysis of TPHg and BTEX using EPA methods
8015/8020, and MTBE using EPA method 8020 for the first quarter. If MTBE is detected,
confirmation by EPA method 8260 will be conducted. If MTBE is not detected, during
—`– ---subsequent quarters the-groundwater'samples-will be analyzed for only-TPHg/BTEX-using EPA
methods 8015/8020. : Purge water from the wells will be contained on-site in 55-gallon DOT
approved drums pending laboratory analysis. If sample results indicate nondetectable levels of
petroleum hydrocarbons, discharge to the ground surface is proposed.
After laboratory results are received, a report will be prepared containing results of the
monitoring and sampling activities for the client and appropriate regulatory agencies.
All work described in this addendum will be performed in accordance with Smith
Environmental's Field Procedures and Site Safety Plan on file with PHS/EHD, and will be
performed under the direction of a California Registered Geologist or Professional Engineer.
Please call our office at (209) 579-2221 if you have any questions or comments regarding this
project.
Sincerely,
Smith Environmental Technologies Corporation
William-Madison
Staff Geologist QR CFiSS,L/j`jgll,
N AISEY
Jeanne Homsey s
CA Registered Civil Engineer No. C47410 h C0417410
F,xp._ 12199
cev, ta
cc: Dr. A.R.
