(Canonie)
proposal submitted to you on January 31, 1995 to perform a subsurface investigation at the
subject site. As we discussed, due to anticipated personnel changes which will affect your
project, Canonie has been able to reduce the initial estimated budget to accomplish the
proposed tasks. As you requested, copies of this revised proposal have been submitted to Mr.
Ron Rowe of San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
(PHS/EHD) and Mr. Jim Munch of the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB).
The purpose of the investigation is to determine if the subsurface has been impacted by the
former underground storage tanks as required by PHS/EHD. The Scope of work will include
reviewing PHS/EHD files, preparing workplan, obtaining permits, drilling three soil borings
and installing monitoring wells in the borings, soil and groundwater sampling, preparing a
summary report, and performing three rounds of quarterly monitoring, sampling, and
reporting. The following is a description of tasks that will be performed and the
corresponding estimated budget is included in Attachment 1.
Task 1: File Review, Workplan Preparation Permitting and Scheduling
This task includes reviewing PHS/EHD files for background information, preparing a
workplan for PHS/EHD review and approval, preparing a site safety plan, obtaining necessary
permits from PHS/EHD, scheduling field personnel and equipment, locating underground
utilities, and performing any other necessary field preparation and job startup activities.
Task 2: Installation of Three Groundwater Monitoring Wells
This task includes mobilization to the site, advancing three soil borings and completing them
as monitoring wells, and collecting soil samples.
Three borings will be advanced to depths of approximately 30 feet using 10-inch O.D. hollow
stem augers. Drilling will be conducted by a State-licensed (C57) drilling company. A field
N:\PROPOS AUP90547B.doc
