ATC Associates Inc.
1 117 Lone Palm Avenue, Suite B
Modesto,California 95351
209-579-2221
m s s o c m s I. c Fax:209-579-2225
SCOPE OF WORK
PLANNING AND PERMITTING
Upon approval of the Work Plan, ATC will prepare and submit the necessary Well Permit
Application documents (form EHD. 29-02-001) for the proposed subsurface investigation.. At
that time, ATC will schedule fieldpersonnel and equipinent, notify Underground Services Alert
to locate underground utilities as required,.and perform.other, necessary field preparation and job.
start-up activities.
DIRECT PUSH SOIL BORING ACTIVITY
Six Geoprobe@. direct push soil borings will be advanced to approximately 10 to 15 feet below
ground surface bgs. The proposed boring locations are shown on Figure 2. The borings will be
advanced using truck mounted, narrow. diameter GeoprobeO, direct push technology. . Drilling
will be conducted by a State-licensed (C57) drilling company...A field geologist will be present
to continuously log soil samples for,a detailed lithologic profile and to delineate.the vadose zone,.
capillary fringe, and water-bearing zone. .Descriptions of soil types encountered and sample
collection intervals will be recorded on boring logs. Soil samples will be collected continuously
and field screened with.a PID meter. An estimated two soil samples from each boring will be
submitted for laboratory analyses in an attempt to further quantify the subsurface. area most
impacted with adsorbed-phase hydrocarbons.
Soil samples for analytical analysis will be collected from within the vadose zone. Sample
selection will be based on PID measurements and field observations ,(i.e. odor and soil
discoloration). Depth to initial groundwater/saturated zone elevations (estimated at
approximately 7 to 12 feet bgs) will be determined and used to design the in situ soil vapor
extraction study, described later in the Work Plan. For the soil'vapor study, it is important that
the vapor probes are set above the capillary.fringe to.avoid water entrainment.
One groundwater sample. will be .collected from ::each Geoprobe® boring at a depth of
approximately 10 to 15 feet bgs. A Geoprobe® Screen Point 15 Groundwater Sampler will be.
threaded onto the leading end of the Geoprobe® push rod when the groundwater is encountered..
While the sampler is advanced, O-ring seals and an expendable drive point will provide. a
watertight system to ensure sample integrity.,
Page 7 kywTcw:\17861\WP for Additional Subsurface Investigation
Soil Vapor Study,and Modeling "C.6`1 A T e I"`'`
