July 6, 2004
NOA Project Number: E04017A
Page 3
Soil Properties and Percolation Tests
Two (2)percolation test holes and six (6) soil borings were located on and nearby the 2'
Fairway(see sheet G2). The test holes and borings were drilled with either a 6-inch diameter
tractor mounted auger operated by the SG&CC or a 4-inch hand auger drilling tool operated by
Neil O. Anderson& Associates, Inc. The soil.boring locations and other points between were
measured with a laser level to roughly determine the topographic features of the disposal field
(Plate 1).
The surface soils encountered within the sewage disposal area were found to be a brown silty
fine to medium sand or clean fine to medium sand which appears to be fill soil. The fill soils
overlay a native grayish brown to black organic silty clay(see Plate 1).
Table 1.
Soil Description.
Location, Depth(ft), Soil,USCS Percolation Test
Percolation Test Depth,Result
1,P-1 0-2.5,brn silty f-m sand(fill), SM.
2.5-3.5,brn-gry silt w/f-m sand(fill),ML. 2.9-3.4 ft,
3.5-7,rust colored silty f-m sand(fill), SM. 31 min/in
7-8,sandy silt w/some clay(fill),ML.
2 no soil boring.
3 0-3,brn f-m sand,clean(fill),SP.
4 0-3,brn f-m sand,clean(fiIl),SP.
5 0-3,brn f-m sand,clean(fill),SP.
69 P-2 0-0.5,sand,f-m w/silt(fill), SP. 1.7-2.2 ft,
0.5-3.2,grayish brown to black organic silty clay(native),ML. 27 min/in
(Depth of 3.0,ground water encountered)
A ground-water boring and percolation test were drilled just east of the 2nd Fairway northwest of
the driving range (see sheet G2 and Plate 1). The soils in this area were thought to represent the
soil underlying the sandy fill soil of the 2nd Fairway.
For each percolation test hole, approximately 2 inches of pea gravel were placed in the bottom of
the boring. A 2-inch diameter open ended and slotted PVC pipe was place on the bottom and
backfilled with about 0.5 foot of pea gravel in the annular space. The holes were then saturated
24 hours prior to the percolation test. The holes were filled with water to 6-inches above the
gravel and the water drop was measured each 112 hour for a period of 4 hours.
