V
plastic caps and sealing the caps with plastic tape. Soil
samples will be labeled and logged under Chain-of- Custody (COC)
control. Soil samples will be stored in a cooler with ice,
transported to a state certified laboratory for analysis with COC
documentation.
9) Soil cuttings will be stored on and covered with visqueen.
10) The borings will be logged by inspection of the samples and
classified using the Unified Soil Classification System by a
California Certified Engineering Geologist.
11) A minimum of three days after the installation of the wells,
the wells will be developed by pumping, purging and collecting
the purged groundwater in 55-gallon drums labeled awaiting
analysis. Three groundwater samples, one from each well, will be
collected by a clean dedicated bailer, placed in several 40 ml
VOAs with Teflon septa, labeled, held in a cooled (4 Degrees C)
ice chest and transported to a State Certified Laboratory, under
COC documentation, for analyses.
12) The soil and groundwater samples collected will be analyzed
for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gasoline (TPHG) and Benzene,
Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Xylene (BTEX) . Analysis for Methyl
Tertiary Butyl Ether (MTBE) will also be completed. The
groundwater samples will be analyzed for TPHG by EPA Method
modified with purge and trap preparation 5030 (GC/FID) with
detection limits of 50ug/1. EPA Method 602 will be utilized for
BTEX with a detection limit of 0.5ug/l as required by the SJCEHD.
13) Measure depth to groundwater, survey the wells and calculate
a gradient.
14) A report, signed by the Certified Engineering Geologist,
will include a summary of the field work, boring logs, COC
documentation, certified analytical results, conclusions and
recommendations, in accordance with the "Tri-Regional Board Staff
Recommendations for Preliminary Evaluation and Investigation of
Underground Storage Tank Sites". The report will be submitted
to the client and the SJCEHD.
If you have questions, please call us at 510-5.05-0722,
Sincerely,
RE 0 GFC/
JOHN N.
