Water Well Log Aquitard
The aquitard mentioned in regard to the water well (number 2S/5E-22Q, State Permit
Number 78-330, address Gonzales Transit Mix, 8181 W. Business Loop 205, Tracy, CA,
see attached log) were those logged by the driller at the time of well installation in 1978.
The drillers log shows "clay" logged at 19-21 feet, and a deeper "clay" from 27-48 feet.
The log shows that the sanitary seal extends to 50-feet from the surface, hence these clays
could be aquitards sealed by the well seal.
Possible Additional Water Wells On-site
PHS-EHD indicated that additional water wells may occur on-site on the basis of the
undated Resna figure. The site owner indicated that no other wells occurred on-site.
Wright will make a physical surface inspection to search for additional wells. If those
wells are present, Wright will attempt to sound and sample them for the contaminants
previously analyzed.
Additional Monitoring Wells If Needed
PHS-EHD has indicated that if any of the proposed monitoring wells show contaminant
presence, additional deeper discretely screened wells may be required. Wright is in
agreement the site should have adequate groundwater monitoring. The previous site soil
and groundwater chemical data indicates a plume of degraded TPHD with degraded TPH
Gasoline, depleted in volatile components. Aquitard soil samples (at about 26 feet±) will
be collected to ascertain contaminant presence in that strata (on the assumption that if the
contaminant had vertically transited the strata, residual contaminants would possibly
remain). Wright recommends reviewing the data collected for the entire site in the previous
and projected assessments, including after the proposed monitoring wells have been
installed and sampled, to determine the need for deeper discretely screened wells.
We hope this letter has clarified your questions. If you have any questions, call.
Sincerely,,
Wright Environmental Services, Inc. pl y
''1 N2 1262
,qi "_+ j10'a-, CERTIFIED
Jo Lynch Christopher M.
