In SJC/EHD correspondence dated May 15, 2003 you
were directed to continue routine quarterly groundwater monitoring, and sampling of monitoring
well MW-3, until directed otherwise by this agency. You were informed that sampling of
monitoring wells MW-1 and MW-2 could proceed annually. You were informed in the same
correspondence that SJC/EHD had reviewed your site with a representative of the Regional
Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region (CVRWQCB) and that before either agency
could consider this site for closure a decreasing trend of contaminant concentrations must be
established in the impacted well MW-3. You were further requested to provide SJC/EHD with a
calculation of contaminant mass remaining in the soil at your site.
You are again directed to continue routine quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling of
MW-3. The next event must occur in March 2004,followed by another event in June 2004. If
analytical results continue to show a decreasing trend of contaminant concentration or non-detect
results, and if you have submitted the requested calculation of contaminant mass remaining in the
soil, SJC/EHD will be able to review this site for closure.
If you have any questions or comments please call Lori Duncan at(209)468-0337.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
Environmental Health Department
LC,i ' 'dW ACOS .
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS Supervising REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV
cc: James Barton, CVRWQCB
John Lynch,Wright Environmental
