Six geoprobe direct push borings and
three groundwater monitoring wells were installed during this phase of the investigation.
A previous investigation at this site had defined the extent of the soil contamination as being limited to
the immediate vicinity of the former underground storage tank area.
The purpose of the work completed in July and September 2001 was to define the vertical and lateral
extent of the petroleum hydrocarbon impact to groundwater.
Analytical results of the samples collected from the groundwater monitoring wells were non-detect for
all constituents analyzed in MW-1 and MW-2. Results were positive for 440 micrograms per liter(pg/1)
total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as diesel, and 58 pg/I TPH as gasoline in MW-3. A re-sampling
of one of the on-site domestic wells was also reported as non-detect for all constituents analyzed.
PHS/EHD directs that quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling be initiated at this site and that it
continues until directed otherwise. A confirmation sampling of the domestic well must be completed.
In PHS/EHD correspondence dated December 6, 2000 you were told to sample both domestic wells
located at this site. The next quarterly groundwater monitoring event must include both domestic wells
located on the west side of the storage shed. Also, the well survey that was submitted on your behalf
did not include addresses for the wells that were identified. Please forward clarification as to where
the identified wells are located.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
,iz
(4,-L,4, G ()
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS Margaret L Bono, Supervising REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV
cc: Marty Hartzell, CVRWQCB
John Lynch, Wright Environmental Services
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
