The groundwater
at the site only shows trace concentrations of xylene in one well. A report of the vapor extraction work
was submitted on January 21,2003. GTI recommended closure of the site.
The permit to operate the vapor extraction system expires on.January 31, 2003. At this time it is not
known if the County will require further operation of the extraction system at the site. Rather then renew
the permit to operate and then close the site,GTI will have Del Tech Geotechnical shut off the VETS and
disconnect the vapor extraction hoses. This way it will be possible for the SJVUAPCD to verify at
anytime that the VETS is not in operation. The IC will be left on site until the County informs us to
either continue operation or to close the site. If the County orders continued operation,GTI will submit a
CPA for additional operation and will reapply for the SJVUAPCD permit.
If you have any questions regarding this project, please call Ray Kablanow or myself at the office (209)
522-4119.
Re ectfully Sub tted,
4MLOOIGtL TECHNICS MC
Michael J.Niemi
Project Geologist
Cc: Lori Duncan-SJC PHS/EHD
Lisa Middleton-SJVUAPCD
Don Light-Del Tech
Gordon Boggs-RWQCB-CVR
