(GTI) on behalf of the above referenced site and has the following
.comments. f. i,_., ,.
.- v .
The Repo rt.documents site fieldwork that.took.pfaceduring4he week of October
16720, 2000, to continue.the.investigation of the vertical and'lateral extent of the
petroleum hydrocarbon contaminant.impact.to soil and groundWater at this site.
.Two shallow groundwater monitoring wells; MW-4 and;MW-5, were installed to
first groundwater, one soil boring, SB-101, was advanced to 115 feet below
surface grade (bsg) and one deep monitoring well, MVV-301, was installed to 89
feet bsg. Soil samples for analysis were collected every five feet during the
drilling of MW-4 and MW-5 and from 75-115 feet bsg during the drilling of SB-
101. Results of the soil analyses were non-detect for all petroleum hydrocarbon
constituents analyzed, with the exception of 4,230 milligrams per kilogram
(mg/kg) total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as diesel in the 65.5-66 foot, bsg;,
"'sarriple from'MW-5. 'The'laboratoiy reported that the pa#tern was not typical of
diesel and that the sample contained visible streaks of a white, odorless, greasy
substance. An explanation of why this sample was analyzed for TPHd and what .
the white substance may be was not included in the report.
The new wells were developed and sampled on December 1, 2000 during' a
routine quarterly monitoring event (GTI Report, Groundwater Monitoring 41h
Quarter 2000, dated December 27, 2000). Analytical results from that event.
showed consistent.trends in the levels of contaminants.'present'in MW-1, ' W-2
and.MW-3-and in the.direction of-the shallow groundwaterflow, which is to the r
west/northwest: MW-4 was non-detect for all constituents analyzed. MW'.5
reported 177 micrograms per litre (µg/1) TPH as gasoline. MW-101 had 852 µg/1
TPH.gasoline, 3 tg/l benzene, 45 µg/I toluene, 14 ug/i ethyl benzene, 84 µg/I
xylene and 54 g/l methyl tertiary butyl ether (MtBE).
