r
Soil Boring Installation
` On September 22, 1999, one soil boring was installed at the Joe Da Silva dairy facility
(Figure IIIB). The purpose of this work was to evaluate the suitability of the subsurface
soils for use as low permeability lining materials in the proposed lagoons and settling
ponds at the site. All soil borings were drilled by Frontier Drilling of Turlock, California,
r a contractor licensed in the State of California-to conduct such activities. The work was
conducted under the direct supervision of AGS personnel who logged and collected the
samples for analysis.
The borings were advanced using six inch outside diameter, continuous flight, solid-stem
augers. During drilling, the project geologist logged all drive samples and cuttings
continuously using the Unified Soil Classification System. Soil boring logs are contained
within Appendix Section III.
The soil boring was advanced to depth 41 feet below the ground surface. Ground water I'
was not encountered in the soil boring. After completion, the soil boring was backfilled
Fit with a neat cement slurry to existing grade and covered with native soil.
j
I
x
F"
®Western Design/David Avila 2000 30
i
