On Site Sources of Nitrogen <br /> ` <br /> *Feed storage areas: <br /> The feed storage areas are sloped to drains that flow to a storage pond. <br /> • Domestic septic systems: <br /> There are four septic systems at the facility. Their locations are: <br /> • One at the mobile homes and the old milling parlor for employees. <br /> • New proposed milking parlor for employees during the milking operation. <br /> • One each at two residences <br /> The human waste septic systems are considered to be insignificant. <br /> M <br /> eCorral runoff: <br /> Corral runoff is directed to drains that are strategically located to collect all site runoff and conduct it to 4 <br /> Fthe settling ponds. Areas that do not gravity flow are pumped to the lagoon system. <br /> # s <br /> *Agricultural liquid waste storage ponds: <br /> There are three nutrient laden water storage areas. One,being the settling pond area; second and third are <br /> the two flush lagoons.Reference the site plan for locations. <br /> �L The settling pond eluent will not end up in the liquid calculations for it remains as moisture in the solids <br /> that are collected at the settling ponds. h <br /> There was a geological soil boring taken at the site for the expressed purpose of exploring the soil profile <br /> F in the general area. Reference the Soil Profile statement located at page 10 through 13 of this report for <br /> details of the soil analysis and conclusions of the soil study resulting from the geological soil boring and I; <br /> the excavation of the new lagoon. <br /> These areas will have clay that will meet the requirement by the State Water Quality Control Board of a <br /> o <br /> minimum of 10%clay content at the liner of a liquid storage lagoon. <br /> -Agricultural solids storage areas: <br /> Thane are two classifications of surface manure storage areas,the composting area and the cattle corrals. <br /> These areas will be graded with slopes to cause runoff to flow to drains that conduct it to the settling k <br /> ponds.These areas will be evaluated upon completion of the grading. The evaluation will consist of i <br /> random soil sampling that will be analyzed for clay content.
